Event Description: Chrysalis Center, Inc. will host its 3rd Annual State of Our Community Event, Hungry to Learn in 2017, on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at the Center’s TCC (Training & Conference Center), 255 Homestead Avenue in Hartford. A continental breakfast will be served at 8:00 a.m. followed by the panel discussion from 8:30 – 10:00 a.m. Hungry to Learn in 2017, a panel discussion on ending student hunger, will provide attendees with an overview of the underlying issues associated with student hunger and discuss solutions to help resolve hunger in our schools and colleges. Leading the panel discussion will be Jeff Sidewater, Food Service Coordinator, CREC Schools; Maryellen Shuckerow, Chief Development Officer, Chrysalis Center, Inc.; and Brooke Penders, Vice President of Advancement, Goodwin College. “Hunger has devastating effects on our children’s ability to learn,” said Chrysalis Center’s CEO, Sharon L. Castelli. “A community working together to discuss and resolve the issues associated with student hunger will lead to healthier, more productive and better performing students.” The event is free and open to the public. Food donations for Chrysalis Center’s Freshplace fresh food pantry will be accepted. Seating is limited.
