Event Description: Sponsored by the Partnership for Strong Communities, a statewide nonprofit policy and advocacy organization dedicated to ending homelessness, the Reaching Home Celebration Dinner & Housing Awards is Connecticut’s annual celebration of the enormous progress made in preventing and ending homelessness across the state. The dinner brings together hundreds of policymakers, advocates, service providers and supporters, and features awards and recognition for professionals who have strived to provide new homes and vital services to those who have experienced homelessness, and residents who have returned to homes, work, education and training and reconnected with their families and friends. Ben Vereen, the Tony Award-winning actor who costarred with Richard Gere as a homeless man in the much-acclaimed film “Time Out of Mind” will describe his work in that role and his passion for preventing and ending homelessness. During the cocktail hour, Vereen will take photos with Diamond and Gold level sponsors. Attendees will enjoy a compelling art display by local artist Abby Carter, music from local songstress/writer Debra Lynn Alt, and a delicious 4-course dinner, all while feeling good knowing they’re helping to change lives throughout Connecticut.
