Event Description: Lead More,Control Less? Ever wonder, especially in these uncertain times, how we can lead more and control less, even when our knee-jerk reaction might be to do just the opposite? Leadership Greater Hartford (LGH) is digging into this issue and exploring how leaders truly gain more control by giving it up. Their seventh annual Lessons In Leadership series, beginning at 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 23 at the Chrysalis Center, Hartford, will feature the book Lead More, Control Less by Marvin Weisbord and Sandra Janoff. Author Sandra Janoff will be in town to kick off the series on February 23. In addition to signing her book, she will explain Lead More, Control Less’ non-traditional approach to leadership and will provide an overview of the eight essential skills for establishing a culture of autonomy, self-leadership, and for wearing “authority more lightly.”. Janoff is the recipient of the 2016 Organization Development Network Lifetime Achievement Award. For two decades she and her co-author Marvin Weisbord have led strategic planning efforts all over the world. They have worked with business firms such as IKEA, Haworth, Whole Foods Market, and NGOs such as the United Nations Development Programme, the United Nations Children’s Fund, and the American Cancer Society, to name a few. They have also authored the best-selling books Future Search and Don’t Just Do Something, Stand There! Lessons in Leadership is a breakfast book discussion series for area business, government, educational, and nonprofit leaders interested in improving their leadership understanding and skills. Participants grow personally, meet leaders of different disciplines, and have the opportunity to share diverse perspectives and identify common interests. Registration for the February 23 Kick-Off and book signing is on a first come, first served basis. The cost is $40 per session; or register for all five sessions at a discounted $150 and also receive an annual LGH membership. Registration is free for Leadership Greater Hartford dues-paying members and sponsor employees. Register online at leadershipgh.org for scheduling and more detailed information.
