Event Description: Art Connection Studio, an innovative, nonprofit community art center and gallery, will hold the opening reception for its autumn exhibition “Woven” on September 18 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The exhibit follows a theme of conservation. Mini eco-calendars will be on sale, depicting wildlife drawn in India ink, sewn with biodegradable bindings, and printed on 100% recycled paper. A colorful collection of bags, skirts, and accessories will be available, all made with organic dyes and natural fabrics. The exhibit will also emphasize repurposed materials with its collection of vintage-inspired jewelry and furniture, canvas prints, handcrafted woodworking creations, and “found object” wind chimes. In honor of the exhibit, Art Connection Studio has incorporated paint reclamation into its daily practice, where artists and facilitators recycle unused paint and revive brushes for future use. The Vinfen Vocational Arts Program at Art Connection Studio provides specialized vocational programming, art therapy services, and community art classes. Individuals get the opportunity to explore art as a path to creative self-expression and as a viable career. At the heart of the program is the belief that positive and nurturing relationships are a powerful agent for growth and healing.
